Flexible packaging use is growing fast and is second only to corrugated cardboard in the U.S. It provides many consumer benefits, but flexible packaging is quickly becoming the preferred solution for brands because it reduces their environmental footprint.
When you consider the full life cycle of packaging materials, in most cases, flexible packaging requires less energy to manufacture and transport, reduces product waste, and sends less material to landfills. About 50% of flexible plastics are easily recyclable through in-store drop-off programs, while the other half can be chemically recycled or used as energy feedstock. Research is ongoing to develop more recycling options for flexible packaging.
