Our mission to highlight the entries from the 2021 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition continues! Check out our December spotlights listed below to learn about sustainable flexible packaging, its benefits, the manufacturers behind the creation, and the brands that are using these packages for their products.
Brothers International Food Corporation Freeze Dried Chips
Brother’s International Freeze Dried Chips Gusset Pouches are an excellent example of how switching to flexible packaging creates exceptional brand management. The new, improved packaging creates a colorful, exciting gusset pouch with bold colors and a soft touch material to emphasize the many features of their product. The soft touch structure has an exceptional aroma and flavor barrier, good clarity, and great reclosure and dispensing options. These factors earned CL&D Graphics a place in our Innovation Showcase. Dole® Just Add Chicken Salad Kit Roasted Red Pepper
Just Add Chicken was inspired by the most popular salad-chicken combinations typically found on a restaurant menu. Launching with 4 varieties, the focus of the package was to connect both the preparation and addition of chicken to a pre-prepared salad to create a new meal solution product. American Packaging Corporation earned a spot in our Innovation Showcase for these reasons. More information can be found at their website here.

Maybelline® Fit Me® Matte + Poreless Foundation
Maybelline’s Fit Me® Matte + Poreless Foundation represents a minimally packaged, on-the-go pouch suited for e-commerce retailers. The flexible spouted pouch offers consumers enhanced portability, increased product to package ratio by shipping four times more product than packaging, and bold graphics. ProAmpac earned a position in the Innovation Showcase and can be learned about here.

SoChatti Chocolate is on a mission to introduce the world to the real flavor of chocolate and its packaging is an integral component of achieving that goal. SoChatti comes in a uniquely-shaped, spouted pouch from Glenroy that preserves the specific aromas and flavors of the cacao bean, which SoChatti sources from various regions of the world and uses in its artisanal “chocolate on tap.” Additionally, SoChatti’s packaging enables the chocolate to be shelf-stable for up to two years without any preservatives or emulsifiers. This shelf stability has enabled SoChatti to receive approval from Amazon to be fulfilled year-round (most chocolate cannot be stored/fulfilled during the heat of the summer months). This sustainable packaging wows customers willing to pay extra for a farm-to-table premium product. Made from 60% compostable material, this block-bottom, compostable coffee bag contains a zipper and a one-way valve at the top for shelf stability. The updated design, with the bag printed inside out to create texture, evokes a craft feel while the almost see-through white sections of the bag hint at the coffee beans within. Visit the manufacturer’s website for more information here.
