Our mission to highlight the entries from the 2021 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition continues! Check out our November spotlights listed below to learn about sustainable flexible packaging, its benefits, the manufacturers behind the creation, and the brands that are using these packages for their products.
These high-end packages were reverse printed with variable information on a 4-ply, foil-based structure for coffee applications. They feature a pre-applied de-gas valve, a soft touch matte finish, and a peelable sealant. The design of this set of packages showcases a mosaic approach, where four different individual views combine to provide a complete city skyline. Digital printing on this conventional, high barrier coffee package provides users the freedom to complement their standard coffee portfolio with creative designs or launch new products without compromising quality or product integrity. These factors earned Printpack a place in our Innovation Showcase. To learn more about the manufacturer, visit their website here.

The Al Barakah Dates Pouch is designed with cast and cure technology to discourage counterfeit duplicates. With the cast and cure technique, the customer name and logo, which gives a holographic effect and provides security to the package, is not easy to reproduce and improves the overall aesthetics of the package. Emirates Printing Press, L.L.C. earned a spot in our Innovation Showcase for these reasons and has more information at their website here.

The Liquibox FlexLiner film is the new cost-effective inner ply film for both our premium FlexAsept® aseptic bulk bags and standard aseptic bulk bags that are filled on steam-sterilizing aseptic fillers. The specialized design of our high-performance, thermally resistant, and flex-crack resistant FlexLiner is based on a new resin technology that significantly simplifies the recipe and makes it 30% less expensive than the current design. This new packaging design provides superior performance in the growing cost-competitive aseptic industry and landed Liquibox in the Innovation Showcase. Check out their website here for more information.

Better Chew is a brand of products sold under Something Better Foods Inc., a Public Benefit Corporation. As a certified B Corporation, they are committed to democratizing access to healthy food and creating food solutions that are affordable and accessible to everyone. They aim to bring the best tasting plant-based solution to every table in America as a part of our mission to change lives for the better, one “Chew” at a time. For this package, the converter was able to surface print the 3.5 mil PE and thermally laminate to the PET/EVA film directly. This eliminated the extra PET layer and paves the way for digital and label to utilize offline thermal lamination more effectively and efficiently without pre-laminates with just PE film. Karlville & All State Printing earned a position in the Innovation Showcase, and to learn more about the manufacturers, visit their websites here and here.
